Our Mission…
Jackie’s Closet Incorporated provides support to youth aged 12 and older who are navigating foster care, adoption, or kinship placements. We offer a unique shopping experience that allows youth to choose both essential items and personal wants, while learning valuable budgeting skills. Our approach emphasizes building positive relationships, fostering a sense of community, and promoting safety and healing for the young people we serve.
Our story…
The vision for Jackie’s Closet began in 2016 when Pastor Scott Morrison was asked to lead a group of kids during Vacation Bible School. Among the group was a shy young girl who sat quietly on the sidelines, avoiding engagement in activities.
Scott, having some experience with foster care through his work as a youth pastor, couldn’t help but wonder about her story. Gently, he asked if she was in foster care. Though hesitant at first, the young girl—Jacqueline—eventually opened up, saying, 'I will share my story with you.' She revealed that she was indeed in foster care, with her mother currently in jail.
As Scott listened, he felt a quiet prompting from the Holy Spirit, asking, 'What are you doing about this?' That moment planted the seed of an idea—a borrowing closet for children in foster care. But the vision wasn’t ready to come to life just yet.
Over time, the ministry grew. At Foothills Calvary, we launched FAM (Foster Adopt Ministry), focusing on supporting foster and adoptive families. In the eight years since, the vision for Jackie’s Closet evolved from a small closet for younger children into a dedicated resource for teens.
Today, we are building the foundation for a mobile store and storefront to serve teens in foster care, kinship placements, or adoption. Jackie’s Closet will provide teens with essentials like duffle bags, backpacks, clothing, shoes, and personal necessities. Every item is new—not used or gently used—because we believe these young people deserve to feel loved, valued, and honored through the care and quality of the items they receive.
